Standing Up To Hate & MAGA Extremism
Diversity, inclusion, and tolerance are bedrock values of America and Orange County. And I will continue to loudly and aggressively stand up against the hate and violence that are rising across our country.
As the child of Korean immigrants, I know firsthand the importance of America’s bedrock values of diversity, inclusion, and tolerance. Millions of people across centuries have come to this country in search of the American Dream precisely because of those values, which are now being demonized by Donald Trump and his allies. I have been a loud and forceful voice in advocating for the importance of diversity and inclusion, and I often point out how this makes Orange County and the district I represent such a special place to live and work.
Unfortunately, President Trump’s statements and actions have emboldened those who seek to divide us by race, religion, sexual identity, or gender. Over the past decade, we have seen an alarming rise in the incidents of hate and violence directed at people because of their intrinsic identities or characteristics.
I have been a loud and unapologetically forceful voice in calling out these incidents and taking action to address them, including during my four years as a State Senator before I entered Congress.
