Reproductive Rights
There are no compromises when it comes to women’s access to abortion and contraception.
Women should have full autonomy over their own bodies and their ability to make their own healthcare decisions. Full stop. I’ve been a loud and outspoken advocate for abortion rights my whole career, and when I served in the California State Senate, I was proud to have authored a number of leading bills to protect these rights, including Proposition 1 in 2022, which codified abortion rights in the California state Constitution, as well as SB 374, which I authored into law in 2021 and which made California the first state in the nation to recognize reproductive coercion as a form of domestic violence.
I’m proud to have a 100% lifetime record from Planned Parenthood and Reproductive Freedom for All (formerly NARAL) and to be the only candidate in this race endorsed by the political action arms of those groups.
In Congress, I am continuing to fight like hell to restore abortion and reproductive healthcare rights. I have sponsored the legislation that would codify Roe v. Wade into federal law, along with a whole suite of other bills to restore and expand federal protections and funding for reproductive healthcare. Women, not politicians, should be the ones to decide their own reproductive healthcare decisions, including whether to have an abortion.
